We are living in unprecedented times – the coronavirus is impacting our families, our communities and our very way of life. ILF National is working closely with Capitol Hill, the White House, federal agencies and other AAPI organizations in Washington DC to provide accurate information and action to support and sustain our families and small businesses.

The International Leadership Foundation (ILF) New York chapter efforts began when COVID-19 first broke out in China around January. They originally donated masks to China. After they learned that COVID-19 was spreading to the U.S., they immediately moved to help America. As they monitored COVID-19, they quickly learned New York started having cases and they never imagined to be heavily impacted. The news showcased the medical staff working in a hospital environment with no protection. New Jersey and New York members began collecting small boxes of masks in efforts to fight the epidemic and protect our frontline workers. As of today, International Leadership Foundation headquarters, ILF NY Chapter and New York Entrepreneur Roundtable donated $124,000 worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to support COVID-19 disaster relief in New York.

The first positive case appeared in Long Island of Nassau County. The hospitals desperately needed help and reached out to the county; the county then reached out to ILF. They made their first delivery at Mercy Medical Center in Long Island on Friday, March 20th. Mercy Medical Center received 264 N-95 and 3,000 surgical masks. The second delivery was made at Nassau University Medical Center on Saturday, March 21st where 2,000 3-M masks were delivered. The third delivery was made at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center on Friday, March 27th, where they received a total of 3,000 N-95 and 1,250 surgical masks. Nassau County specially acknowledges ILF and NY Chapter Chairperson Cherry Huang.

Upon securing and delivering masks, ILF joined hands with nine other non-profit organizations to secure a total of 12,500 masks. The organizations that collaborated together are: Long Island Chinese American Association, Great Neck Chinese Association, New York Young Entrepreneur Roundtable, Chinese Giving Circle, Nankai Alumni Association in NY, Herricks Chinese Association, Chinese Center on Long Island, Roslyn Chinese Association, Long Island School of Chinese and The Harbourview Foundation/United Chinese Americans (UCA). These organizations will continue to actively participate and contribute to the fight of COVID-19 as a community. They will continue to work with hospitals to raise funds to donate ventilators to hospitals.
