Washington, DC – The International Leadership Foundation (ILF) is now accepting applications for the Summer 2022 Youth Leadership Academy Program. Through this program, ILF aims to cultivate the next generation of young civic leaders through a series of lectures, seminars and hands-on projects on topics ranging from public policy, leadership and developing an entrepreneurial mindset. This summer’s YLA Intensive Seminar (virtual) will run from Saturday, June 25th through Friday, July 1st, followed by a 6-week period to complete an Social Impact Project along with a mid-summer and end-of-summer check-in.

The YLA is meant to help high school students better understand American democracy and their unique role in it. ILF will provide students with the skills, knowledge, inspiration, and confidence they need to become civically engaged citizens, entrepreneurial thinkers, and future leaders. After a 1-week intensive seminar, students will participate in a Summer Impact Project of their choice by securing a summer volunteer, shadowing or internship opportunity with a local organization (i.e. local government, non-profit organization, community service project, etc.). Through their Summer Impact Project, YLA students will take what they have learned in the classroom and engage with real life experiences.

“Our mission at ILF is to inspire, empower, and connect young people to be a positive force in their communities,” said Executive Director Linh Hoang and he further added, “The Youth Leadership Academy provides high school student leaders with foundational leadership skills, deeper understanding of public policy, and opportunity to collaborate with peers across the country.”

This summer’s YLA 1-week intensive seminar will include topics such as Cultivating an Entrepreneurial Mindset, Entrepreneurs Meet Civic Engagement, a Fireside Chat on Leadership and session with the podcast host of “This American President”. Special speakers will include civic and community leaders, successful individuals from the business community, as well as experts in the government sector.
The Youth Leadership Academy is intended for aspiring young leaders who are interested in a variety of fields, including public service, entrepreneurship, and business. Applicants must be rising high school sophomores, juniors & seniors. They must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
