ILF hosts Harvard Kennedy School Info-Session for Fellows

Established in 2000 as a non-profit organization, the International Leadership Foundation (ILF) has promoted civic awareness, public service, and economic prosperity amongst the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Its mission is to develop young leaders in the United States, Asia, and the Pacific Rim countries in the fields of public affairs, entrepreneurship and international relations through a network of business and community leaders.

On par with its mission, the International Leadership Foundation hosted a Harvard Kennedy School, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Information Session on Monday, July 20th, 2015 from 06:00PM until 08:00PM at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Building.

This event was designed for prospective applicants who want to learn more about Harvard Kennedy School’s master’s programs, joint programs with Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School (MBA), with MIT, Stanford, and Wharton.

The Director of Admissions of the Harvard Kennedy School, Matt Clemons, led the information session. Mr. Clemons taught English in South Korea for two years before working in admissions for the Manhattan School of Music, the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, and finally the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Some alumni and current students shared their experiences as well.

ILF CEO Ms. Chiling Tong, herself a Harvard Kennedy School Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation fellowship alumna, said, “I was so happy to co-host this information session with the Harvard Kennedy School. This session was really important for students because it gave them resources and advice on how to apply to programs that will really advance their careers in public service and open up even more opportunities for them. I’m excited to see more AAPIs getting involved in public service.”

ILF also coordinated a Harvard Kennedy School event last month in California and has built up a very close relationship with the school through ILF’s national advisors and fellows who currently attend or have graduated from the school. International Leadership Foundation’s 2015 Civic Fellows, as well as some alumni of the program, attended the event.
