ILF 2015 Civic Fellows Get-Together

Last night, June 4, our new summer 2015 Fellows had the chance to meet and mingle with their fellow Fellows during a casual ILF Fellows dinner at Vapiano’s in Gallery Place-Chinatown. Three alumni of the program also joined the occasion: Jason Tsai (ILF 2009), Senior Digital Marketing Manager at The Advisory Board Company; Michael Wu (ILF 2011), Special Agent for the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General; and Lana Buu (ILF 2012), Analyst at the U.S. State Department. They shared their insights and advice, from housing to job experience, with the new Fellows. Karim Farishta, a 2015 Fellow, said, “The ILF dinner gathering was a fun, engaging opportunity to connect with alumni from the program, learn about their experiences from their placements, and receive meaningful, genuine advice. Lana and Jason were very helpful with sharing how I could make the most of my upcoming internship. From sharing how to “dress for success” to best strategies for networking, their guidance will hopefully serve me well in my endeavors in the short and longer terms. Their passion for public service is not only inspiring but one that reinvigorates me to continue to pursue more opportunities.” Justin Lee, a 2014 Fellow and current Fellows Program Coordinator, expressed, “I really appreciated the chance to meet with the Fellows and alumni in an unofficial setting because it gave me a chance to really get to know them better and I’m looking forward to the Fellows Orientation on Saturday.”
